How to connect your own domain

Updated October 31, 2026

To use your own domain for your client pages, add one DNS record at the company where you bought the domain: an A record whose name is the part you want to use (for example "clients" for clients.yourstudio.com) and whose value is the address shown in iwopo under Settings → Web address. iwopo checks it every few minutes, adds the padlock and emails you when it is live.

Before you start

  • Own domains are part of iwopo’s top plan.
  • Decide the address: a subdomain such as clients.yourstudio.com is easiest and keeps your main website untouched.
  • In iwopo, open Settings → Web address, type the address and press Connect. iwopo shows the exact record to add — keep that screen open.

GoDaddy

  • Sign in → My Products → next to your domain choose DNS.
  • Add New Record → Type: A.
  • Name: the first part (e.g. clients). Value: the address from iwopo. Save.

Namecheap

  • Domain List → Manage next to your domain → Advanced DNS.
  • Add New Record → A Record.
  • Host: the first part (e.g. clients). Value: the address from iwopo. Save (the green tick).

Hostinger

  • hPanel → Domains → your domain → DNS / Nameservers.
  • Under Manage DNS records choose Type: A.
  • Name: the first part (e.g. clients). Points to: the address from iwopo. Add Record.

Squarespace Domains (including former Google Domains)

  • Domains → your domain → DNS → DNS Settings.
  • Custom records → Add record → Type: A.
  • Host: the first part (e.g. clients). Data: the address from iwopo. Save.

Cloudflare

  • Your domain → DNS → Records → Add record → Type: A.
  • Name: the first part (e.g. clients). IPv4 address: the address from iwopo.
  • Set Proxy status to DNS only (grey cloud), then Save — iwopo fits the padlock itself.

Any other company

Look for “DNS”, “DNS records” or “Zone editor” next to your domain and add an A record with the name and value iwopo shows. If you are using your main domain (yourstudio.com) rather than a subdomain, iwopo shows two records: one named @ and one named www.

After you add the record

  • iwopo checks every few minutes — there is nothing else to press.
  • New records usually appear within minutes, sometimes a few hours.
  • When it is ready, iwopo adds the padlock (https), switches your domain on and emails you. From then on every link your clients receive uses your domain.

Frequently asked questions

Will this change my existing website?

Not if you use a subdomain such as clients.yourstudio.com — your main website stays exactly where it is.

Do I need to buy a security certificate?

No. iwopo adds and renews the padlock (https) for you, free.

What if it says it points somewhere else?

The record’s value doesn’t match yet: check it against the address in Settings → Web address, or remove an older record with the same name.
